The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Jashore,Bangladesh was established for Khulna division in 1963 by an Ordinance (vide East Pakistan Ordinance No. XXXIII of 1961) for the organization, regulation, supervision, control and development of Intermediate and Secondary level public examinations and educational institutions. The Ordinance was, however, amended in 1962 (No. XVI of 1962) and in 1977 (No. XVII of 1977).
Dr. Abdul Haque was the founding chairman (9.10.1963 to 04.12.1965) of BISE, Jashore.
Prof. Dr. Molla Amir Hossen is the present Chairman (29 January 2020 upto present) and 32th Chairman in the history of BISE, Jashore.
When BISE, Jashore set out its journey in 1963, there were only four (greater) districts, namely, Khulna, Jashore, Barisal and Kushtia having a total of only 20 colleges and 508 schools. A new district Patuakhali was made in 1969 separating from Barisal increasing number of districts to five. The decentralization of administration in Bangladesh led upgrading all subdivisions to districts in 1984 making the number of districts to 16 (Kushtia, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Jashore, Jhenaidah, Narail, Magura, Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Jhalokathi, Barisal. Patuakhali, Barguna and Bhola) under Jashore board.
Subsequently, Barisal was made a division in 1993 and the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Barisal was established for Pirojpur, Jhalokathi, Barisal. Patuakhali, Borguna and Bhola districts in 1999 by seperating Kushtia, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Jashore, Jhenaidah, Narail, Magura, Khulna, Satkhira and Bagerhat districts under BISE, Jashore.
No of Institutions under Board : Now there are 2708 no of recognized Schools another 160 no of temporarily recognized schools and 523 no of colleges under BISE, Jashore.
Medium of Instruction: Although the medium of instruction is Bangla in all schools and colleges, except Jhenaidah Cadet College, Military Collegiate School of Khulna, Akij Collegiate School, Jashore International School, BAF Shaheen College, Islamabad Collegiate School, Khulna, and Navy Anchorage Khulna and Nuhar English Medium Secondary School, Mohammadpur, Magura are under BISE, Jashore offers education in English version of NCTB syllabus to the students
All education boards came under computerization in 1994 that started student registration through OMR process leading to issuance of Registration cards, Admit cards, processing and publishing exam results. Issuance of Marks sheets/Academic Transcripts and Certificates were also began printed. Online publication of public examination results went into operation in 2011.
Apart from conducting SSC and HSC examinations education boards now hold Junior School Certificate (JSC) examination, since 2010.
Jashore board has almost made its services automated. Now it provides services to all of its stakeholders online www.jessoreboard.gov.bd. It is time saving, economic, fast and accurate. BISE, Jashore has provided sub-domains (website) to all of its schools and colleges to upload all information (of physical, academic, students, teaching & non-teaching staff, class routine, academic calendar, exams, result, attendance, performance etc) and providing services. Online Education Management Service of Jashore board plays a pioneering model role to digitalize the education sector of Bangladesh and to translate the Vision 2021 (Reach Bangladesh to the Mid Developed Country) of the Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina into a realty to build Developed Bangladesh within 2041.
